History Live: Melbourne Writers Festival at M.A.D.E

Friday 11 September Helen Pickersgill is Library Officer at the City of Ballarat. She will speak on her three visits to the Abrolhos Islands, a chain of 122 islands, 100 km due west from Geraldton in the Indian Ocean, and under the jurisdiction of Geraldton. Helen will focus on its landscape and history and, in particular, the 'Batavia' story. The Batavia was a Dutch ship that ran aground on its maiden voyage in 1629.
