Sovereign Hill launched Gold Museum – Regional Development Project

BALLARAT, 20 August 2012 – Join us TODAY Monday 20th August at 11am for the official launch of Sovereign Hills’ Gold Museum Project. Special Guests attending the launch include Stephen Coltman, Board President of The Sovereign Hill Museums Association, Jeremy Johnson, CEO, and Cr Mark Harris, Mayor City of Ballarat. Damien Drum MP will be cutting the ribbon. The project, which began construction last month, is an initiative of Sovereign Hill, with major financial support from the Victorian State Government through the Regional Development Fund and the City of Ballarat.
Major features of the new centre include a new mezzanine floor, improved storage space and conditions, new work areas with improved IT capabilities for database management, a secure library of reference material, a new covered loading dock and improved security. The centre will notably be more energy efficient and environmentally sustainable.
Access to collections and Sovereign Hill’s capacity to provide appropriate storage and management of 100,000 heritage objects, documents and photographs will be much improved by the proposed Collections Research Centre.
