Call For Applications: Contract Project Coordinator – SongWays Music Mapping
The City of Ballarat Arts & Culture Unit is seeking a suitably experienced, qualified & imaginative person for a contract position helping to coordinate the recently-funded SongWays Music Mapping initiative.
SongWays Music Mapping provides comprehensive cultural mapping of historic music performance sites across Ballarat, from the earliest Aboriginal gathering places along the Yarrowee River, through colonial & goldfields venues that served Ballarat’s multicultural community; from public spaces that made music accessible to the broader community & provided sites for itinerant performers, to grand halls that seated audiences of thousands at a time; from intimate places presenting esoteric music for small groups, to contemporary spaces & venues that are the foundation of Ballarat’s reputation as a ‘music city’.
The products of the SongWays Music Mapping project will be digitally documented & presented as a component of the existing UNESCO Historic Urban Landscape Ballarat website (hulballarat.org.au), and used as the basis for a mobile digital app and print / aural self-guided tour available to locals & visitors alike.
