Grants Open To Revamp Western Victoria’s Football And Netball Facilities

Media Release – Tuesday, 16th May, 2017.

The Andrews Government is providing growing football and netball clubs in Western Victoria another chance to secure funding to upgrade grounds, courts and pavilions, and welcome more members than ever before.

Labor Member for Western Victoria, Jaala Pulford, today announced that applications are now open for the next round of the Country Football and Netball Program.

Ms Pulford said the Government is helping all Victorians gain better access to modern, safe and inclusive sport facilities, no matter where they live.

“This fantastic program will help replace or upgrade ageing grounds and facilitiesin Western Victoria,” Ms Pulford said.

“Footy and netball clubs are the heart and soul of Western Victoria and we’re giving them the facilities they need to grow and attract more members,” she said.

Grants of up to $100,000 will go to projects such as ground resurfacing, new lighting, building more modern and safer netball courts and new pavilions with female-friendly change rooms.

Ms Pulford said Labor launched the program in 2005, which has since delivered $23 million to over 460 projects.

“Better facilities make it easier for all players, coaches, umpires and supporters of all abilities to get involved in local sport, while encouraging everyone to join in the fun and lead healthy and active lifestyles,” Ms Pulford said.

“That is why we topped up the program with an extra $8 million funding boost plus an additional $1 million has also been provided by program partners the AFL, AFL Victoria and Netball Victoria,” she said.

“I urge clubs across Western Victoria to speak to their local councils about applying for this funding,” Ms Pulford said.

Applications for the Country Football and Netball Program are now open and close on Wednesday 26 July 2017. For more information or to apply online visit www.sport.vic.gov.au.
